1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use PDF Beacon: Quick Search (“PDF Beacon”, “the App”, “we”, “us”).

PDF Beacon is a separate product from other apps and services that may be published on aerologx.net. This Privacy Policy applies only to PDF Beacon.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to PDF Beacon version 1.0.0 for iOS, iPadOS, and Android, and related builds that use the same local-data and purchase practices.

It covers:

• local PDF processing, indexing, search, and library organization;
• local bookmarks and annotation-related data;
• store-managed purchases and restores; and
• support email and limited technical processing when you visit PDF Beacon pages on aerologx.net.

3. Data stored and processed on your device

By default, the following stay on your device and are not uploaded for indexing, OCR, search, or cloud library sync:

• PDF files you import or open through the system file picker or shared storage access you grant.
• On-device OCR output for pages where text extraction needs OCR (processed locally when that feature is enabled).
• Search indexes and search queries used for library and in-document search, plus optional local search history when enabled.
• Folders and filenames — folder names, document titles, sort preferences, and archive/trash state.
• Bookmarks (page references and titles you create).
• Notes and highlight / annotation records, including optional note fields associated with annotations or pages.
• Annotations, Apple Pencil handwriting, and page notes — highlight records, Apple Pencil / stylus strokes, and typed page notes remain on your device. PDF Beacon does not upload stroke points or note text, and does not convert handwriting into text.
• Text selections and search context used while reading or navigating results.
• Vocabulary, study data, and saved translations — saved terms and phrases, optional translation/note fields you attach to them, your vocabulary notebook, and simple study/flashcard progress.
• Exports you create from the App (when available) are generated locally; source PDFs are not sent to developer servers for export.
• Purchase entitlement state cached locally after App Store or Google Play verification.
• App preferences needed for normal operation.

PDF Beacon does not require an account to use the local library and search features described above.

4. Study, translation, and dictionary

PDF Beacon includes PDF study and language-learning features. These are designed to keep your learning content on your device:

• Term and phrase translation uses Apple’s system translation framework on supported iOS and iPadOS versions (iOS 18 and later), with graceful fallback on older versions where the framework is unavailable.
• Define shows system dictionary definitions through Apple’s own built-in UI.
• Vocabulary notebook stores the terms and phrases you save.
• Study and flashcards let you review saved vocabulary with simple study progress.

Your vocabulary, notes, study data, and saved translations remain on your device. PDF Beacon does not operate a translation server and does not send your PDF text, search text, notes, vocabulary, or translation content to a PDF Beacon developer backend. On supported Apple devices the App may use Apple’s system Translation framework. Language models may be downloaded or managed by the operating system. Available translation languages depend on Apple’s system Translation support and installed language models; not every language is always available. Define uses Apple’s system dictionary interface only — PDF Beacon does not bundle a dictionary corpus and does not copy, store, or republish dictionary definitions. This policy does not describe Apple’s own telemetry. System translation and dictionary services are provided by Apple under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.

5. Subscription entitlement verification

PDF Beacon has no developer backend, no cloud account, and no login. Subscription entitlement is verified only by the Apple App Store (StoreKit) on iOS/iPadOS or Google Play Billing on Android, using each platform’s in-app purchase APIs.

• The App reads your subscription status for the product identifier com.aerosoft.pdfbeacon.premium.monthly from the store.
• Verified entitlement is cached locally on your device so Premium features can work offline within the App’s rules, including any local grace window.
• Subscription metadata is not sent to a PDF Beacon developer server; there is no developer-operated entitlement database, and payment method details and full store receipts remain with Apple or Google.

6. What is not sent or processed off-device

PDF Beacon does not process off-device:

• PDF document content or page renders;
• search index content or search query contents;
• OCR text or OCR output;
• notes, bookmarks, annotations, or selected text;
• folder or document display names for cloud indexing;
• advertising identifiers; or
• cross-app or user tracking data.

The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs (for example Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or Sentry). Feature flags in the shipped configuration set cloudSync, analytics, ads, and accountSystem to false.

This does not mean the device never uses the network. Purchases, restores, entitlement refresh, and optional downloads of files that are not already on the device may require internet access through Apple, Google, or the system file provider you choose. The operating system may also download language models for system translation.

7. No advertising or tracking

• No advertising SDKs and no in-app advertising are included in PDF Beacon.
• No user tracking or cross-app tracking is performed.
• The App does not collect developer analytics.
• We do not sell your personal information or document data.
• There is no developer-operated subscription server, so no subscription metadata is sent to a PDF Beacon developer server for advertising, profiling, or resale.

8. File access and permissions

PDF Beacon accesses PDF files you select or grant access to. The App uses platform file-picking and storage APIs so you control which documents enter the library. Revoking access or deleting documents in the App removes those items from the App’s local library subject to trash/archive behavior described below.

9. Purchases and store services

PDF Beacon offers an optional auto-renewing Monthly Premium subscription (store product ID com.aerosoft.pdfbeacon.premium.monthly). Purchases and restores are processed by Apple App Store (StoreKit) on iOS/iPadOS or Google Play Billing on Android when available, under those platforms’ own privacy policies and terms. Eligible customers may receive a 3-day introductory free trial when the store offers it. Eligibility is determined by Apple or Google, not by a PDF Beacon account. Prices are shown by the store in your local currency.

• The App uses platform in-app purchase APIs to read subscription entitlement status directly from the store.
• Verified entitlement status is cached locally on your device so Premium features can work offline within the App’s entitlement rules (including any local grace window). Refreshing or restoring purchases may require network access to the store.
• PDF document contents, search indexes, search history, folders, bookmarks, annotations, vocabulary, and study data are not sent with purchase or restore requests, and there is no PDF Beacon developer server that receives them.
• Receipt, payment method, and billing details are handled by Apple or Google. Manage or cancel subscriptions in App Store / Apple ID settings or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.

10. Third-party services

Relevant third parties may include:

• Apple App Store (StoreKit) — distribution, purchases, restores, and subscription management on iOS and iPadOS.
• Google Play — distribution, purchases, restores, and subscription management on Android when the Android build ships.
• Apple system services — the system translation framework and system dictionary used by the study features run under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy; PDF Beacon does not receive the terms, translations, or definitions on a developer server.
• System cloud file providers only when you choose to open or download a file that is not already local (for example iCloud Drive or Google Drive via the system picker).
• Website hosting for these legal and support pages (aerologx.net on Vercel), which may process standard web server/CDN logs and optional site analytics configured for the website—not for PDF content inside the mobile app.

Open-source libraries used by the App (such as the local PDF renderer and SQLite/Drift database stack) process data on-device as part of App functionality; they are not used in this build as a cloud document pipeline.

11. Retention, deletion, and account data

Local library data remains on your device until you delete documents, notes, annotations, vocabulary, or other in-app items, clear App data, or uninstall the App (subject to OS backup behavior). Because this content is local, removing it in the App or uninstalling the App may delete that local App data depending on the operation. PDF Beacon does not promise server deletion of PDFs, notes, annotations, vocabulary, or translations — there is no PDF Beacon server storing that content.

Deleted library items may remain in a local trash/archive area for a limited period before permanent deletion, depending on App behavior. Permanently deleting items or uninstalling the App removes the App’s local copies, but does not delete the original files elsewhere on your device or in cloud storage providers unless you delete those originals yourself.

No developer account data: PDF Beacon does not create a developer-operated account for you and keeps no cloud subscription record, so there is no server-side profile to delete. Ending or cancelling a subscription is handled in your store account settings, not by PDF Beacon.

12. Security

PDF Beacon is designed so document content and search indexes stay on the device for normal library use. Protect your device with a passcode or biometric lock. OS backups may include App data according to your device settings. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure.

13. Children’s privacy

PDF Beacon is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a PDF Beacon account system, because the App does not provide developer-operated accounts.

14. Website and support communications

If you visit PDF Beacon pages on aerologx.net or email support, we may receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message content) and standard technical logs generated by the website host. Do not include sensitive document contents in support email unless necessary.

15. Your choices and rights

You can delete documents and related local data in the App, clear App storage via system settings, or uninstall the App. Depending on your region, you may have additional privacy rights. Contact support@aerologx.net to exercise applicable rights or ask questions.

16. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when product behavior changes. The effective date above will be revised when material updates are published on this page.
