1. Purpose of the App

PDF Beacon is a productivity application that helps you organize a local PDF library, index documents on your device, search across your library and inside open PDFs, and use folder organization plus bookmark and basic annotation features.

2. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using PDF Beacon, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

3. Your files and responsibility

You are solely responsible for the PDF files you import, open, rename, move, annotate, or delete. You must have the right to access and use those files. Keep independent copies of important documents outside the App.

4. Copyrighted PDFs

You may only use PDFs that you own or are otherwise authorized to use. Do not use PDF Beacon to infringe copyrights or other intellectual property rights. The App does not grant you any license to third-party content contained in your PDFs.

5. Local processing

PDF Beacon processes PDFs and related indexes locally on your device for library and search features. The App does not provide a developer-operated cloud library sync in the current version. Network access may still be required for store purchases/restores and when you download a file that is not already on the device.

6. Annotations and export

Bookmarks and basic highlight/annotation features may store overlay data in the App’s local database. Overlay annotations do not rewrite or re-sign your original PDF bytes; source PDFs remain yours, and digitally signed PDFs are not modified by App overlay marks. Some annotation workflows (including mark-all across progressive result groups, a dedicated notes panel, and print/export of annotations) are incomplete or not shipped as finished features. Do not rely on unfinished export paths as your sole archive of notes or marks.

7. Data loss and backups

You are responsible for backing up your original PDF files and any critical notes. Device failure, OS updates, App uninstall, storage corruption, or user deletion can cause loss of local App data. We are not responsible for lost files, indexes, bookmarks, or annotations.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the App, attempt to reverse engineer it except where permitted by law, interfere with its operation, or use it for unlawful purposes.

9. Purchases and subscriptions

PDF Beacon is free to download. Optional Premium access is offered as auto-renewing subscriptions:

• Premium Monthly — billed monthly through Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Premium Yearly — billed yearly through Apple App Store or Google Play.

Where offered by the store for eligible new subscribers, a 7-day introductory free trial may apply. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends (or within the timing required by your store account), the subscription converts to a paid auto-renewing plan at the then-current store price for your country or region.

• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings before the renewal date.
• Manage and cancel: Manage, change, or cancel in App Store / Apple ID subscription settings or Google Play subscriptions. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not usually refund the current period except as required by store policy or law.
• Prices: Displayed prices come from Apple or Google and may vary by storefront, country, currency, and tax. This page does not list fixed dollar or local currency amounts.
• Restore Purchases: Use Restore Purchases in the App (with a network connection and the same store account) to re-apply an existing entitlement on a device.
• Refunds: Refund requests are handled under Apple or Google store refund policies, not by a separate PDF Beacon checkout.
• Subscription end: When a subscription expires, is cancelled after the paid period, or is revoked, Premium-only capabilities may stop. Ending a subscription does not delete your imported PDF files, local indexes, folders, bookmarks, or annotations. You remain responsible for your own backups.

Paid features, billing, and trials are subject to Apple’s and Google’s applicable terms in addition to these Terms.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Search results, OCR output, and indexing coverage may be incomplete or imperfect depending on PDF structure and device resources.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (OR ZERO IF YOU PAID NOTHING).

12. Updates

We may update the App and these Terms. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms when they are published on this page or presented in the App.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop distributing or supporting the App. Provisions that by nature should survive (including disclaimers and liability limits) survive termination.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the publisher’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
